A figurative oil painter and mom of three, Corynn's work centres care work and development. After giving up painting for over a decade to raise her family, she has reinvigorated her practice, merging the disparate roles of mother and artist.
With emphasis on movement and materiality, her vivid paintings celebrate memory, personal growth, and the labour of caregiving. The work is painted allaprima, welcoming the viewer to explore the material processes of oil paint. The result is a contrast that plays between the stillness of the image and the dynamic movements inherent in the physical act of painting.
Corynn earned her BFA in the Drawing and Painting program at OCADU, in 2019, and has since taken an active role enriching the Toronto arts community, while continuing to exhibit her work extensively. She has been featured on B.T., CP24, CBC Radio, and She does the City. Her work can be found in private collections in the UK, the US, Australia, France, and Canada. Corynn currently works out of her home studio in Toronto.
